Tapoffs are an old and effective way to quickly and repeatedly transfer a tooling pattern to your leather in preparation for your swivel knife cuts and leather tooling.
To use these tools you must have vegetable tanned leather that has been properly cased with water. The tapoff is placed on the leather and then a metal roller or clicker press can be used to apply pressure to the flat surface of the clicker so the pattern side leaves an impression in the leather. You then have a a pattern marked in the leather, ready to start the tooling In just a few seconds.
